Meri, one of the interpreters got both Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu today. She is the only one that ever knows it is April Fool’s Day; I guess because she had kids that are in school. She told Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu that I needed them at the mission house. Of course both of them came right away and asked me what I needed. I told them I did not need them. As soon as they said, “Meri said you wanted us.” I knew that Meri had played an April Fool’s trick on them. Of course Meri thought it was the funniest thing.
Today was a very exciting day for Musa; the young man that is crippled. Musa is about 16 or 17 years old and he lives in his wheel chair. Last year he asked for a handicapped tricycle. This afternoon Meri, Zorash, Steve and I took the tricycle to his house. Meri knew where the family lived. You should have seen the big smile on his face! It was better than Christmas! Of course all the neighborhood children gathered around to look at his new vehicle. Musa’s mother had gone to the market so she did not get to see the pure joy that was on Musa’s face. He will probably drive it to school tomorrow and show all his friends. Meri told us that Musa now had a sister that was about 5 or6 years old and she cannot walk. Her case is very similar to Musa’s. She was normal and then she got sick and then she could not walk. Musa’s mother still has the braces that Musa used to use when he was small and she is letting his sister wear them. We sure would like to know what is going on with them.
We have been waiting on a bag of used clothing that one of the large churches in the Kumasi area sent to us for distribution in the small congregations. They sent 6 bags of clothes at the first of March. Only 5 bags arrived. The guy that sent them finally tracked down the other bag. Steve went to the bus station this morning and picked it up. We have not looked at the clothes yet. The bag that came in today was a bag full of shoes. We won’t have any trouble finding a home for them.
Timothy said that his motorcycle needed a new lining put in the block. The mechanic is going to send it to Tamale to get it relined. Vehicles and motorcycles are wonderful when they work but when they are not working they are more than a little annoying.
Thank you for all you do!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
