| I am the king of the month! I woke up last night just after 12:00; I changed the calendar from July to August and in our house, whoever changes the calendar is the king for the month! The position does not carry any special privileges just bragging rights! We made a trip to town this morning to buy fruit and to go to the sewing machine repair guy; I have been trying to get hold of him; I am looking for a special part and I hope that he has what I need. We went to his shop earlier in the week but he had moved. Steve found someone that led him to the new shop. The mechanic was not around but Steve got his phone number. We have tried the phone number several times but it is always switched off. This morning, we tried again; he was not around. There are a couple young ladies that have a seamstress shop right beside his shop; we told them what we would come back later to see if he had come to work. The second time we went to the shop the ladies told us that he does not come to work on Friday. That would have been good to know the first time we stopped to ask about him. We will try again tomorrow. We found the fruit we needed but we forgot to buy the soybeans. We are going to roast weaning mix next week; we already have the corn but we need the soybeans so we can roast them together. We ran out earlier this week and had to buy from one of the ladies near the mission house. The pre-made weaning mix is very costly compared to the one we make ourselves. Soybeans are on our list for tomorrow. While we were in town Steve spied the truck that he buys formula and baby cereal from. He flagged the truck down to see if he happened to have the baby cereal today. We were in luck; Steve bought 3 cases which will last about a month. I was able to get a little sewing done while Steve worked on the tax returns for the Ghana Revenue Authority (IRS). Steve got all 4 of the forms filled out and ready for Mr. Iddrisu to take to the bank on Monday to make the payments. It is nice to have that out of the way for another month. Hope you have a great day! In HIS Service, Steve, Kandie and Skeeter The Monkeyshines Mom is mad at me and I don’t really understand why! Do you remember, I told you that there is a gecko living in my jail cell with me? Well for the most part he stays hidden; I only see him once in a while when he comes out to eat bugs. I know he has been in the entry room of my jail because I see his poop! He makes quite a lot of poop for a little creature. I have decided that I like lizard poop so every time Mom comes to get me out, I stop in the entry room and pick up the poop and eat it. Mom gets so aggravated about me eating the poop, she says, “Skeeter! Stop that! That can’t taste good! That can’t be good for you! What are you thinking eating that? That is just plumb nasty!” Now how in the world does she know that it does not taste good? Has she ever tasted lizard poop? I think not so why is she judging me? Let’s think about this; she wants me to eat grasshopper and termites whole and raw; where does she think those creatures poop is? Yep! You are right! Upon her insistence I am eating grasshopper and termite poop so what is the big deal? Mom needs to consider that possibly I have a vitamin or mineral deficiency and that is why I enjoy lizard poop! Come to think of it, it has been a while since I had my vitamins. I must stop talking about poop; it will put my readers off and my fan base will go down! Love, Skeeter |
