We visited the church located at Jagrido this morning. It is on the way to Timothy Niligrini’s house, so he didn’t have to drive in. Traveling these dirt roads is dusty business. I always feel sorry for the people that I meet or pass on the road because they get a good dusting even if I slow the vehicle down. Many people use face masks or some kind of cloth wrapped around their face to keep from breathing the dust. The dust clings to your hair making it feel coarse and thick, especially when your vehicle air-conditioning fails and you are driving with the windows down.

After arriving at Jagrido we had enough time to visit the chief so we turned the truck around and drove back to his compound. This is a paramount chief so we usually give more Kola since he has a higher rank amongst the Konkomba tribe of which Timothy is a member. The chief again wanted us to remember he needed help to get a clinic established in the village. Later, Timothy told us the government was already building a structure to house a clinic. I guess the Chief thinks it never hurts to engage more people to get your dreams accomplished.

When we got back to the church building, we conferred with the men of the church about Timothy teaching the bible class. They quickly consented. The dry season is the time funeral celebrations are held. Timothy decided to teach a lesson about the dos and don’ts for Christians attending funerals and burials. The reason is because some people in the area are saying that as Christians we are not to cry or weep at funerals or burials. Timothy taught how Christians can cry but he also dealt with other practices such as not participating with the group of people at a funeral when the soothsayer comes to the celebration and tells who has supposedly killed the deceased. The church was very happy to have him deal with this subject.

After eating our lunch Kandie worked on the February receipts and withholding tax. I worked on finding the paperwork for the vehicle insurances and getting my paperwork together to renew my Ghanaian nursing license. We will make the trek to Tamale tomorrow to try to get all of this paperwork renewed for another year. I also want to look for another printer and copier.

That rounds out our day. We hope you are having a good Lord’s Day as well. Thanks for all you do for us. May God bless!

In His service,

Stephen & Kandie Taylor
