We have everything marked off our list that we can do tonight!  The rest of the things are last minute things that have to be done just before we walk out of the house.  These things are: cover the bed with plastic, put bleach in the toilets, tape the refrigerator shut, take down the Starlink (the internet service thing), cover the outdoor A/C unit and spray for bugs.

Our electricity went off last night when we had a big rain storm; it never came back on.  All of our neighbors had electricity and the Child Center had electricity.  While we were out for our walk this morning Steve called Shani, one of the guys that works for the electric company.  He said that he would be over as soon as he got to the office and filled out the work order.  He still had not shown up by 9:30 and Steve began to worry so he went to the office to see if he needed a ride out to the mission house.  He was not in the office.  Steve called again; he said that they had a major outage and that as soon as they solved that problem he would come out.  Around noon he called and said he was on his way.  It did not take him but about 5 minutes to fix the problem.  There are 3 phases on the pole but only one running to the house.  The main house and the Child Center are on different phases and so are some of our neighbors.  Shani said that one of the phases was not working and it happened to be the one the mission house was using.  He fixed the phases and we had lights!  Steve gave them a nice tip for their work.  He wants to keep them happy so they will come next time we have a problem.

Zorash came to the mission house twice today.  The first time she came to pick up her pay and the second time she came with Amama.  We were surprised to see Amama because we did not know that she had come back from the funeral house.  She got back yesterday.  She came to see us and to thank us for the help we gave with the funeral.  She said that the funeral is not over yet; she is going to have to go back for the 40 days celebration!  Please!  These funerals just keep going on!  She has been off 3 weeks already!

We got a pretty good rain last night; it had a lot of strong wind.  There was a lot of debris in the yard this morning and there were black plastic bags stuck in the razor wire!  The bags look like we are flying flags!

Please keep us in your prayers as we start our journey home tomorrow.

The Monkeyshines

I have figured out what is inside the cabinet beside the stool I sit on to eat.  My stool is beside the kitchen entry way.  There are all sorts of dishes in the cabinet and there is also a tray of silverware!  Mom tries her best to keep the cabinet shut and latched.  The cabinet is a primitive cabinet and the latch is just a small piece of wood that is turned to keep the door closed.  One day I will figure out how to turn that latch and get in the cabinet; every time I see Mom latch the cabinet I jump up and try to turn it myself.  But for the meantime I have to wait and watch because sometimes Mom is in a hurry and forgets to latch the door.  I love to reach in the silverware and pull out pieces; they make such a cool sound when they hit the ground!  Today Mom left the door open and I jumped in the cabinet and pulled out a juice glass; it was not plastic!  When it crashed to the cement floor it sounded like an explosion!  It scared me and I jumped!  Before Mom could turn around and figure out what broke I had already grabbed a good sized piece of the glass and jumped up on the back of one of the dining room chairs.  I thought Mom was going to have some sort of fit!  “Oh! No! He is going to cut himself!  Steve, come help me! He has glass in his mouth!”  Mom tried to take the glass from me but I did not want to let go of it; she was afraid to lunge for it because it might cut me.  She grabbed my leash and shortened it; she shamed me into dropping it!  You know how Moms are with that MOM voice!  That Mom voice can put the fear into the rowdiest kid!  Long story short; I did not get cut!  I did not eat any glass!  I am still alive!

The only thing worse than the “Mom voice” is the “Mom voice with the shaking finger”!
