We had a metal water cabinet made to sit on the veranda.  The cabinet will hold full bags of sachet water.  The big bags hold 30 smaller 2 cup bags.  When visitors come to the compound it is the custom to offer them water to drink; most do not want cold water out of the refrigerator.  Also we provide water for the night watchmen.  The water has been sitting on the floor of the veranda which does not look as nice as it will look in its own cabinet.  There is even a place for a padlock so the water can be locked if no one is around.  We will have Mr. Iddrisu paint it green to match the trim on the house.

There are 2 pieces of facial board that need to be replaced.  One is on the garage and the other is on the tool shed.  We have been waiting for the lumber company at the end of the lane to get a new shipment of lumber so we could buy the boards.  Yesterday when we were taking our walk they were unloading a semi-truck of lumber.  This afternoon Steve bought 2 boards and had them straightened and planned.  While Mr. Iddrisu is painting the water cabinet he can paint the facial boards.

When we went to buy the paint for the church building at Kulkpeni and the sleeping quarters we found black emulsion paint.  Mr. Gado, the owner of the hardware store told us that this was the paint that they were using to paint black boards.  All of the churches’ black boards need to be repainted.  Many of them use the carbon from inside batteries to re-black the boards but it is such a mess and whatever touches it gets black.  We will try the black paint at Kulkpeni to see how well it covers.  If it works well we will start carrying paint to the churches we visit on Sunday mornings.

Meri said that her son, Aliu, was feeling better.  One of the pharmacies had given us a sample of a blood tonic; after re-reading about sickle cell disease we realized that the patients need extra folic acid; the tonic has folic and other vitamins.  Maybe it will help him feel stronger.

Thanks for all your help.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
