Another hot day!  The high today was 118 degrees with a heat index of 132 degrees.  The mason did not seem to worry about the heat.  They hand mixed cement all day long.  Today they used 12 ½ bags of cement and lots of gravel.  Dawda finished one of the rooms this afternoon.  Anyway he said that it was finished except for the apron around the top of the wall.  He wanted to be paid for that room.  We asked him when he was going to make the apron.  He said that the apron would demand an additional price.  We told him that if the apron was not included in the price for the walls we would not consider the project done and we could not pay him for completing the room.  He laughed and said it was included and he would do the apron on all the rooms at the same time; imagine that!

Steve made a couple trips to the hospital today.  They were supposed to have the continuing education classes today but for some reason they had been cancelled.  Dr. Owusu was not around; Steve needed him to sign off on his continuing education book so he can renew his Ghana nursing license this month.  The second time he went he got to talk with Dr. Owusu; he showed him his credits from the states and also the continuing education material that he taught the Child Center workers last year.  He needed him to sign off on that material too.  Dr. Owusu liked the material and told Steve that he wanted him to teach the classes to the nurses at the hospital in the future.

Amama was late for work this morning; when she finally showed up I asked her what made her so late.   Usually when she is late it is because she has had motorcycle trouble.  She said that someone called her and they talked for a long time; after she finished talking she realized that it was late and she had not taken her bath yet.  Obviously taking a bath is more important than coming to work on time.

I brought one of those fake knives with us this time.  It is the one that has the retractable blade so it disappears when you stab someone.  It is actually a toy.  Well, I took it to Bible study Sunday night.  I bring magic tricks to help prove that the Juju (witchdoctors) have no power but they are just tricking the people.  They were impressed!  Yesterday when we got ready to pay Gomda for fixing the truck I saw the knife in my purse.  I told Gomda that Bro. Steve had really annoyed me.  I pulled the knife out and stuck it in his chest.  Gomda was speechless!  He thought for a minute that I had really hurt Steve!  When he realized it was a trick he laughed!  Next time I use it I will have to prepare the person better!

It is almost time for Bible study.

Have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
