We got a much needed rain shower today.  It did not rain heavily but it rained off and on for a couple hours.  It only put a couple inches of water in the reservoir but we are happy to have it.  I told you that we planted 3 calabash gourd trees a few days ago, well Nazo said he knew someone that had a couple cows and he was going to go to their house and get some manure to put around the trees.  We are all about some manure but we did not want the fresh one because it is too stinky and it will burn the plants if we are not careful.  We were about to go for our walk this morning when he told us he wanted to get manure for the trees.  We thought that he would wait until we got back and we would pick it up in the truck but we saw him walking off pushing the wheel barrow.  We quickly followed him and explained that we wanted the old manure if possible.  The lady of the house was very kind and she showed us a small pile of old manure.  Steve gave her a small monetary gift for the manure.  The trees should be happy!

Zorash was successful in getting the other chief to sign the land papers so we will go to Tamale and find out what the next step in the process is.  We know the documents have to be signed and sealed in the high court but exactly what that entails we do not know.  The man at the land commission was very helpful and kind the other day when we had the documents re-written so we will probably rely heavily on him.

We spent the morning with Mr. Iddrisu sitting in the house counting money.  We went ahead and figured the next 3 months of payroll; there is no need in dragging out the process.  It took us all morning long to get it counted.  We have Mr. Iddrisu count everyone’s pay packet because when we are not here he has to pay them and we want to make sure we correct any mistakes.

The father of the 11 year old girl that had osteomyelitis came to the mission house this morning.  The girl’s name is Warihana.  We helped them with the money to get the surgery to correct the problem last year and now it is time for them to remove the cement and to cover the wound with a skin graft.  The family has used almost all their money on her treatment and they needed help with the last stage of the treatment.  Thanks to your generous donations we were able to help them with the money they needed.  She is scheduled for surgery next week.

Thank you for the love, prayers and support.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
