Our plans were to pick up Timothy Niligrini at his house and go to Yowondo to visit the Church.  We received a good amount of rain last night which complicated our travel.  Timothy had made arrangements with a church brother to meet us at the turn off to the village. This small area is where I buried the pickup axel several years ago ; I was gun shy after last night’s rain. When we arrived at the turn off no one from the church was around.  A motor king was stuck in the mud near the other side . Timothy walked through part of the water to see how solid the ground was. I eventually made the decision not  to chance getting stuck so we went a quarter of a mile up the road and visited the congregation at Jegrido. Timothy telephoned a church member of our change of plans and we rescheduled for next week.

One of the Konkomba tribe’s paramount Chiefs lives in Jegrido. We had time to go to the chief’s palace and greet him before services started. After we chit-chatted with the chief we went back to the church building.

Even though this was a surprise visit the church welcomed us warmly. Timothy’s brother Daniel taught the bible class and I preached while Timothy interpreted. I used several scriptures that used the word “pure” in them.  My illustration that I used was gasoline in a motorcycle; everyone around here has driven or rode one. Just a few drops of water contaminates gas so a motor will not spark (start).

After services we walked across the road to Timothy and Daniel’s father’s house to give him some  sympathy money; he lost one of his wives earlier this year. Timothy’s father is a polygamist; Timothy and Daniel have the same mother.

After lunch Red came by the house to see us and to show us his version of a “ Veronica Bucket” which is a hand washing station.  This apparatus uses a 25-30 gallon plastic garbage can fitted with a spicket at the base. The stand and soap dish are made of rebar ( used in reinforcing concrete) . Red’s design allows a hands free operation using a foot pedal from a motorcycle.

Later in the afternoon Kandie went back to working on the finance books to try to catch up since we have been away. It has been thundering again and the electricity has gone off and come back on so I will close for now.  Hope you have a good Lord’s Day. May God bless!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
