Dauda and the masons are still working. I guess that they decided to work later today because they only worked ½ a day yesterday because of the rain. Of course that means we will have to pay them twice the pay! It is funny here in Ghana if a worker comes to work and it is raining or starts to rain they get paid even if they never get off the porch.
Timothy stopped by this afternoon because his brother Daniel is in the hospital again. He has Hepatitis and they have been treating him for several years. This time the doctor wants to do some extensive testing which the Health Insurance Scheme does not cover and Daniel does not have the money to pay for. Steve went up to the hospital to talk to the doctor to make sure that the tests were really needed and of course the doctor said that he was not comfortable treating him blindly without the tests. Steve paid for the test but as with most tests there will have to be follow-up testing in a few months. Steve made sure that Daniel and Timothy knew that there would be other test needed. Maybe in 6 months Daniel will have harvested his crops and be able to pay for the tests.
We got word that one of the church members in Nanjuni passed away. We are going to go and visit the family tomorrow and take them a gift of 100 pounds of shelled field corn, cooking oil and a little money. After Steve and Timothy left the hospital they went to the market and bought the corn.
Steve is at the “vulcanizer” getting a flat tire fixed. We figure that we picked up a nail when we went to the lumber yard yesterday to get the board to fix the ironing board.
Steve was supposed to participate in the continuing education classes at the hospital this morning but when he got there he found out that the classes had been cancelled because one of the doctor’s wife died. She had been sick for some time and she was in Tamale hospital when she died.
The electricity went off so I am going to close the “note” and save them before I lose them.
Take care and enjoy your day. Please pray for us and the work.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
