You did not get Yendi Notes last night because we were stuck in Tamale without the computer.  We did not plan on spending the night in Tamale so we did not take anything with us; not even our toothbrushes or a change of clothes.

We sat for 7 ½ hours at the air conditioner shop to get the air conditioning repaired.  They worked on it earlier in the week but it still did not cool well.  It cooled in spurts; about the time that we got comfortable it would go off.  The mechanic said that he thought it was the clutch and a valve of some sort.  We waited for him to find the parts and make the repairs only to figure out that was not the problem.  Then he replaced what he called “the dryer” some sort of canister type thing.  Only to find out that was not the problem.  Then he said it needed a new compressor.  I guess there were no new compressors in Tamale because he put on a used one.  By the time he finished it was dark and there was no way we wanted to travel back to Yendi in the dark so we went to the hotel.  The mechanic did not want us to pay him until we had a chance to drive around and see if it was cooling.  We drove it a little this morning; it was still not as cool as I wanted it to be.  We went back to the shop and I told him that I wanted to be able to “chill” my water while we were driving.  He thought that was very funny!  He added more Freon.  It cooled well all the way back to Yendi.

When we got to Yendi we took Timothy’s motorcycle to the mechanic here in town so he could see why it was not starting well.  He changed the spark plug and found out that the clutch we had Japan motors put in did not have all the parts it needed to run well.  He replaced the parts and made some adjustment and got it running pretty well.  It might have to be fine tuned in a few days but at least Timothy has a motorcycle again.

While we were in Tamale we stopped by the surveyor’s office and the land commission office to find out what we needed to do next in order to have the property surveyed.  We met some very nice people.

We bought a set of Allen wrenches and a couple small screwdrivers for the sewing machine mechanic.  When we needed the sewing machine repaired he had to borrow tools to do the job.  He was so happy with the gift.  Who knew a 5 dollar gift could make someone so happy!

Zorash came over this afternoon and went with us to the grinding mill.  We now have a fresh batch of weaning mix for the children.  The house smells like roasted corn.

Take care and thank you for your help.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
