Happy Valentine’s Day! Not exactly sure who Valentine was but happy day anyway! We are in Accra, Ghana. We arrived yesterday evening around 9:00. We are always happy when all of our luggage arrives with us. It took them a little while to locate all of the tubs because they off loaded them with fragile items even though there is nothing fragile in the tubs; mostly baby clothes, hats, teddy bear and other items for the Child Center.
This morning we got up early and went up to Koforidua so I could go to the bead market. We hired Bismarck, the man that is in charge of the taxi service at the airport to drive us around today. It is nice to have someone we trust to take care of us.
What a fun day for me! Not so fun for Steve but I had an excellent Valentine’s Day! We got back to Accra at noon and headed out to do business. One of the places we went was to the ministries to take pick up the renewal forms. After we finished our business we stopped at the carver’s village to pick up a red coral necklace that one of the vendors has been holding for us since last November. The necklace is a gift for the new king of Dagbon that lives in Yendi. While we were in the states on leave they finally finished the funeral rites for the late YaNaa who was killed 16 years ago. When we get to Yendi we will have to go and meet him. Most of the kings wear lots of beads and they especially like coral. Hopefully this new king will like them too. If he doesn’t I will keep them for myself! Ha!
Since we got all of our business done today we will fly to Tamale tomorrow. If all goes as planned we will get to Tamale in time to make it to Yendi before dark. Red, the part time driver will meet us at the airport in Tamale.
Thank you for all your prayers.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
