We took the freezer we bought back from Simeon to the sign painter’s shop a couple days ago and had him repaint it. It had been to the village and back on the top of a bus so it was not in the best shape. We thought that if we were going to re-gift it to someone we wanted it to look as good as possible. The sign painter has a spray gun and small compressor so the job looked pretty good considering it was sprayed outside on a dirt path. The big refrigerator that we use in the kitchen was brought over here in 1997; we have never had any trouble from it and we have never had to have it worked on but over the years it has begun to rust. We decided to take it to the sign painter and have him put a new coat of paint on it. He said that we could pick it up this evening. The paint won’t be completely cured but we hope it will be dry enough to transport. We don’t want to leave it there overnight. We stopped by earlier this afternoon to check on the progress but they had not been able to paint it because the electricity has been off.
We got rain last night! How wonderful! We did not get a lot of rain but at least it cooled things off. In fact the temperature dropped 38 degrees; it dropped from 110 degrees to 72 degrees. This morning when we went for our walk it was a chilly 77 degrees! It felt wonderful! Of course the cool temperature did not last; the high temperature today was 112 degrees.
Divine stopped by for a visit this morning. He was headed out to Timothy Niligrini’s village of Kulkpeni. Divine is building a house in Kulkpeni and today was his day to fetch water from the river for the masons. We met him in the market a little while ago and he was very tired and he was headed home. He brought a load of ladies to the market this morning so he was trying to round them all up to take back to the village.
Steve spent part of the afternoon working on his lesson for the mini-seminar tomorrow. The seminar will be in the Nanumba district at the village of Jakpumba. They are going to invite the other congregations in their area so there should be a good turnout.
The electricity has gone off again. So I will close before the computer dies. The battery does not last very long.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
