The heat was brutal again today; the high was 122 degrees with a heat index of 137 degrees.  Steve had a program on “Child Protection” to attend today.  The program was held at the Community Center in the middle of Yendi.    Zorash also attended the meeting because she is the volunteer for her area.  Steve left this morning at 9:00 and did not get back until 2:00.  He then had to go back to town to buy electric units for the mission house.

The masons finished the second room of the cistern / reservoir this afternoon except for the apron.  This afternoon Dawda was trying to get Steve to pay him for the carpentry work he had to do to support the plywood and make the frame work to hold the cement.  Please!  “This is the job that never ends; it goes on and on my friends…!”  Actually we feel sorry for the guys that are working in the underground rooms; it is so hot and steamy in there.  This has to go on the list as “job # 127” that I do not want to do!

Since Steve and Zorash attended the meeting and Mr. Iddrisu was helping the mason that left us short-handed at the Child Center.  Meri and I worked the Center by ourselves; fortunately not many mothers came out today.  I think that the Ghanaians are feeling the heat too!  Zorash said that everyone is sleeping outside in their compounds because it is too hot in their rooms.  She said that it is too hot to sleep under the mosquito nets.  Malaria will be on the rise because mosquitoes do not care how hot it is; they are just looking for someone to feed on.

I spent the afternoon working on the books.  I am a little late getting the receipts entered this month.  I am happy to report that I finished February’s and have entered all the receipts we have for March.

Steve is in the process of revising the continuing education material that he is going to present to the staff at the hospital in the future.  He wrote it with the Child Center in mind; he is changing some of the questions so they will be better suited for the hospital staff.

Thank you for all you do for us and for the work in Ghana.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
