We have had so many mosquitoes; Steve has sprayed for them but when it starts getting dark they come out in their numbers! Steve figured out where some are coming from. When we made our quick exodus from Yendi at the end of March because of the Coronavirus we had just finished working on the cistern project. We have 2 (4ft x 4ft x 4ft) square containers that the mason used to hold the water for mixing the cement. The containers have never been completely emptied and it is the perfect breeding ground for the mosquitoes. We had Meri empty most of the water out of the containers by bailing with a bucket and then we tipped the containers over so that if it rains before we get them put away they won’t catch more water. Now maybe the spray will do a better job.
Mr. Iddrisu was supposed to the bank this morning to set up a saving account so the bulk of the money we leave with him will be in the bank. He said that he was afraid to take the money to the bank unless Nazo went with him because he is afraid the robbers are still watching him. Nazo only came to the mission house for a few minutes today. Today was the day he was supposed to go back to Yendi Hospital to see about his TB test results and to go to the disease control officer about the fungus that is growing all over his body. The tests were not back. The disease control officer gave him the anti-fungal tablets and a couple different types of ointments to try. Most people don’t like the anti-fungal tablets. They also gave him a shot but he does not know what type shot they gave him. He is supposed to go back on Thursday and get another shot. Nazo said he is feeling some better and plans to come back to work tomorrow. Personally we would prefer that he did not come to work until he got the test results back from the Coronavirus.
This morning Shiabu, the electrician, came to the mission house. He said that even after he replaced the bearings in the ceiling fan it would not work; he wanted to buy something else for it but we told him we wanted to cut our losses and buy a new fan. We never thought that repairing the fan was that good of an idea but Shiabu was just sure that he could rework it. While he was here Steve had him put up 2 additional security lights. One is a street light that is on a new pole the electric company put on the mission property to give lights to one of the new houses. He oriented the light so it would shine into the mission property. The other one is inside the cement wall down by the Child Center. The watchmen will be happy with the new lights. Steve had already added one by the garage.
Thank you for all you do for us. We really appreciate the help.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
