We have spent the last 2 hours at the car wash. We had to wash a couple area rugs because when the roof was off and the rain came they got wet and the water that go on them was so nasty; it was the runoff from the attic. Need I say more? If area rugs were easy to come by we would have donated them to one of the workers and started with new ones. We took the rugs to the same guy who washed one for us last year. You would have thought that this was a new experience for him. Today he would not listen to us when we told him to drape the rugs over the sides of the truck; wash one half and then pull the rug to the other side of the truck and wash that side. We thought that he could not understand our English but when Zorash showed up she had no better luck with him than we did. Then he took laundry powder and sprinkled it all over the rug instead of mixing it with water first. I told Steve that he was going to have a very hard time getting all that soap out of the rug. Sure enough there were bubbles everywhere; it was like watching a bad comedy show! The more he scrubbed the rug the more bubbles that came. Finally we got him to drape the rug over the cab of the truck and spray it with clean water. A lot of the suds ran off. We drove back to the mission house with the rug still draped over the truck. When we got to the house Steve took buckets and buckets of water and poured on the rug to get the rest of the soap out. It will take several days for the rugs to dry.
Steve did more patching and touch up painting today. He also got the beds in the spare room set back up. We got the mattresses on and the quilts. I modified some curtains and made an additional curtain for the spare room. It looks nice. The chairs and table in that room need a fresh coat of paint. We will mix it tomorrow morning so Mr. Iddrisu can start painting it. We finished organizing the teaching materials in the office and moved part of the furniture back in. Things are looking better; we have a mountain of trash.
Steve finished writing the monthly report and we got it edited this afternoon. He is a little late getting it out this month but quite frankly we forgot about writing it. Such is life!
We went to town this afternoon to pick up some cereal for the orphans in the Child Center and we tried to find Mr. Adams the electrician but he was not around. We wanted him to take a look at the ceiling fans that are running backwards and see if they can be fixed to run the other way.
Thanks for all you do for us and for the work. We really appreciate the help without your assistance the work would not get done.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
