Today we had an early start because we were traveling to Mole Game Preserve (past Tamale) which is about a 5-hour drive. On the way we picked up Timothy (a Ghanaian evangelist) to give him a ride to Tamale because he had some business to conduct there. His daughter is going to school there so he was taking some things to her. Timothy was also getting his Ghana Card updated. He needs it to support his Tailoring business that he is trying to expand. Once he is finished in Tamale, he will take public transport back to Kulkpeni where he lives.
The road between Yendi and Tamale has many speed bumps and police checkpoints which slows you down and adds more time to the trip. Kandie was relating an experience she had during a previous trip she and Steve had. They were traveling in separate vehicles to Tamale because one of the vehicles needed service and they were going to run errands using the other vehicle while waiting. At a checkpoint one of the Ghanaian Officers asked her to marry him. While it may have sounded tempting to Kandie she refused the proposal. Once Kandie and Steve got to Yendi, she told Steve about the Officer’s proposal. Steve’s response “Was the man drunk?” Steve then tried to recover by rephrasing his statement by saying “Was the man crazy?”
As Kandie finished telling us the story, Timothy tried to save Steve by saying “Well that was a good question”. This got the group erupting in laughter. Timothy then tried to defend himself but was only digging a deeper hole. At one point Gina told Timothy “Throw in your shovel”.
We arrived in Tamale and dropped off Timothy and headed to Mole. We checked in to the lodge and then went on a late afternoon safari to see the animals. During our safari we saw birds, monkeys, baboons, Kob (antelope), warthogs and an elephant.
After returning we had a nice dinner that we took to Steve and Kandie’s room so we would be in AC. Kandie surprised me with a birthday cookie with candles that we shared. That was sweet of her.
It was a long day so we turned in to get a good night’s sleep because we were going on a 7AM safari and then back to Yendi.
Thanks to all for your prayers.
