The roofer started work this morning but he did not do much! He got the ridge pole made and started putting in the rafters. Three men were working today; we were disappointed in the amount they did. The roofer still assures us that he can finish the roof in 3 days. We will see.
We found out that there was a problem with the doors that Red made! They fell off the hinges when the doors were released from the door frame. Red handmade the hinges and they were welded upside down and there was no stop to keep them in place. We carried Red out to the job site to see how to fix the problem. He is going to go back out there tomorrow with his welder and tools and fix his mistake.
The lady that sells the fabric seconds called this morning and said that she had a new shipment of fabric. I am going to have Timothy start a sewing project for me so I need fabric for the project. Zorash and I went to the lady’s house to see what she had. Buying fabric from this lady is always “iffy”. I was fortunate that she had a very nice selection today. I got all that I needed for the project plus some for quilt backing. Lucky me! Fabric is my one weakness! Ha!
Zorash said that her friend who has Hepatitis is still in the hospital on oxygen and drips but yesterday he started giving him some liquid food; he tolerated it well. He is still a very sick man!
Mr. Iddrisu and Donkey got the second coat of paint on the facial boards and they also got the felt cut and put on the roofing nails. The felt has a layer of tar on it so that when the tar paper gets hot it makes a tight seal around the nail hole. The roofing nails have a cupped cap on the top. To help repel the rain. We hope that putting the felt on the nails for the roofer will speed them up!
Take care,
In HIS Service,
Steve, Kandie and Skeeter
P.S. Our daughter Charity had surgery on her sinuses yesterday. She had a bit of a rough day yesterday but is doing much better today. We wish we were there to lend our support; that is one of the drawbacks of being so far away. Please keep her in your prayers.
The Monkeyshines
I had a much better day today than I did yesterday but Mom is mad at me again! Today I found some small round bird dropping (poop) and I ate them. I thought they were quite tasty but Mom was disgusted! She said that I was not allowed to give her any more monkey kisses today! What, how can she reject monkey kisses just because of me eating a few bird droppings? That seems very unfair! I can’t walk past the bathroom sink without reaching out and grabbing and licking the soap dispenser! Now the way I see it; the soap should clean my mouth after I eat bird droppings! And Mom should not withhold monkey kisses!
Mom is always experimenting with our food! Today she went to the lady that bakes the bread for the seminar; she bakes in a charcoal oven. Mom bought a loaf of uncooked bread. She usually just cooks the bread and we eat fresh hot bread but today she decided to fortify the bread and try to make a whole grain bread. She soaked crushed wheat berries, cracked field corn and sesame seeds. She then worked them into the bread; the bread was so tough that she had to get Dad to help her get all the seeds and grains into the dough. She then reshaped it and let it rise; it is in the oven as we speak! I will give you a full description of the bread tomorrow! I don’t hold out much hope for it!
Soap trumps bird dropping every time!
Love, Skeeter
