Just talked to my brother Paul a little while ago; he has decided that he is going to cancel his trip to Ghana.  He was supposed to fly into Ghana this coming Tuesday.  There has been talk of Ghana restricting flights in and out of the country.  He was supposed to be here for several weeks.  Wouldn’t it be terrible if he got here and then was not allowed to go back home?  Of course we are pretty much in the same boat; the only difference is that we are supposed to stay in Ghana until the beginning of June.  Surely by then this virus will have tapered off!  Paul was coming in to hold a seminar for the churches in the Wa area.  Steve, Timothy Niligrini and Divine are going to speak at the seminar.  Paul wants the seminar to go on as scheduled but just without him.  He is going to have the money for the seminar wired to our bank account here in Ghana and we will help him take care of the financial end of things.  Ghana has at least one confirmed case of the virus.  I think that it is down in Accra.  Some of the schools in Accra have closed for a few weeks.  If Ghana restricts public gatherings we will have to cancel the seminar.  But for the moment we are moving ahead with the new plan.

We have been to town several times today.  We have been to get cement twice and we made 4 trips to the sign board painter trying to get a price to paint a sign board for Frigmado church.  We could not repair the flat tire.  The tire had a hole in it and the belts were broken.  No one in Yendi is selling new tires.  With Gomda, the mechanic’s help we were able to find a pretty good used tire.  We are going to Tamale on Tuesday to go to the bank and get the oil changed in the good van so we will look for some while we are there.  Steve wants to buy 2 new ones.

Asana, the 19 year old crippled girl that Red made a handicapped tricycle for last year came to the mission house this morning just to say Hi!  Her mother came with her youngest son; she thought that the Child Center was open today and she wanted to have the baby weighed.

Four of Mr. Iddrisu’s kids came to the mission house around lunch time.  Their mother sent them with his lunch.  While they were here we let them select the book bag of their choice.  The youngest child is not going to school yet.  He was very shy and would not let me take his picture.  I went in the house and got a small “matchbox” type car to give him since he did not get a book bag.  He came to life when he saw the toy car.  His shyness evaporated and he ran right over to me and took the car.

Thank you for the love, prayers and support.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
