We spent another day in Tamale. We thought that we were just going to go over and get a copy of the deed search and move to the last step in the process but we were wrong. When we got to the land office this morning they told us that we had to have another document from another company. We had to have a “Letter of Comment” from the Town and Country Planning Office. Please, what in the world is a “Letter of Comment”? We went to the Town and Country office to get the letter but we were told that unless they came out and did their own mini survey they could not write the “Letter of Comment” for us. We organized a time for them to come to Yendi with their GPS to check the land and we still don’t know what a “Letter of Comment” is! We asked what it was and he said that it is sort of like a guarantee that we actually have pillars to mark the boundaries of the property. We showed him copies of the 2 mini surveys that the Town and Country Planning office in Yendi made for us but he would not accept them. He said that unless he or one of his officers sees the land for themselves they cannot guarantee what is actually on the site. He went on to say that the Yendi office was part of his office. Of course we feel like it is just another way to extract more money from us but then what can we do? He wanted us to drive to Tamale and pick up the men that were going to do the mini survey but we opted to give him money to fuel their vehicle because we did not want to drive 2 hours to Tamale to pick them up and 2 hours back to take them home after they finished the job. How crazy does that sound? The team is supposed to come on Thursday if they are free.
We stopped by the computer shop to see if the owner had found a replacement drawer for the copier we bought a couple weeks ago. He said he was still looking for one. He said that we might have to wait until they got another shipment of used printers in to see if they could get a drawer from one they could not fix.
We went to the bicycle shop to buy new tires and tubes for the evangelist and church leaders but they only had 3 of the good tires so when we got back to Yendi we went in search of some. We found a guy that sold us the other 37 tires that we needed. We also stopped and picked up the formula and cereal that we had ordered.
We finished another set of lessons for the continuing education. Each year Steve teaches continuing education classes to the Child Center workers. He plans on teaching the class tomorrow.
Take care and have a great day.
In His Service,
Yendi Notes Steve and Kandie
