This afternoon Nazo told Steve that he wanted to leave work and go over to Zorash’s house and get an injection. What a strange request! He is not sick. He could not tell Steve what kind of injection he wanted to get. He said it is the type of injection you get when you want to travel outside the country to Mecca. I told Steve to call Zorash and ask her what kind of injections they were giving in her area. Imagine wanting to get a mysterious injection! Zorash told Steve that they were giving Yellow Fever immunizations. It is the only immunization that is required to enter into Ghana. Steve explained to Zorash and Nazo that the World Health Organization decided that you never have to get another Yellow Fever shot; it is good for life. They used to only be good for 10 years. You still have to have proof that you were immunized. We will have to ask if they are giving an immunization card with the shot.
The metal bender sent a young boy about 13 years old to the mission house this morning to start bending the small pieces that were needed to make the rebar forms to put inside the pillar forms. Later in the morning the metal bender showed up with another apprentice and started making the forms. They finished them shortly before dark.
Timothy called this morning and told Steve that he was sick. He said that he had a terrible headache and his whole body ached. He was supposed to go to the funeral of the director of the preacher training school in Tamale today. He said that he felt bad yesterday and no better today so he decided not to go which was a good thing. There would be hundreds of people at the funeral. Naturally we wonder if he has the Covid virus. Malaria has some of the same symptoms as the virus. Timothy said that he had taken Malaria medicine. If it is Malaria he should be feeling better in a day or two. Steve told him that we did not want him to go with us to Mempersem tomorrow for worship. It would be too risky if he does have the virus; not only would he infect us but he would infect everyone at church. Steve will find someone to interpret for him when we get to the village. They will not be as good as Timothy but they will muddle through. Steve and Timothy have been preaching and interpreting for so long that it seems like Timothy knows what Steve is going to say before he says it.
Thank you for the love, prayers and support.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
