I am certainly glad we were able to get the pickup’s air conditioning working for the trip today.  We went to the village of Salankuga located east of Yendi and on the other side of the River Oti. Half of the trip was traveled on one of the worst roads in the district; the Gnani Road. If I had a dollar for every pothole I dodged or hit today I would be a rich man.

One bright spot this morning was hearing Timothy’s DT125 motorcycle driving into the compound. He said it was running much better since Solomon, the motorcycle mechanic here in Yendi, tuned up the bike yesterday.

The one hour forty-five minute trip was worth the pot holes when we arrived at the school block where the Church assembles and heard their singing. We were warmly welcomed by a larger than expected audience. My lesson topic dealt with faith healers.  The problem is compounded by the televising of these people.  The people are quick to believe these people actually have power to heal.

After services we had a great question and answering period. The questions ranged from women’s role in the Church to Polygamy.   After an hour and fifteen minutes we closed the discussion. Many of the small children were asleep on the floor.

Before leaving the village some of the men of the congregation lead us to the chief’s house. The old chief had died.  We left some sympathy money with the family. We also visited with the new chief.

The men of the Church presented us with a young hen and 10 tubers of yams as a gift. These people have a giving heart!

The men informed us they are wanted to put up a small structure for the church to meet in. We told them we were willing to assist them with matching funds as soon as they are ready.  This pleased the men.

After eating a late lunch and resting we made more of the diaper rash ointment. The rain started to fall around 6pm and continued for some time. We are glad for the rain.

That is it for now. Hope you had a great Lord’s Day.  May God bless!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
