We have been to Tamale and back today! Aren’t we the lucky ones? We are still working on the lease for the land. We are not happy about having to register another organization here in Ghana especially when it would be a non-functioning organization. We decided to go to the Land Commission in Tamale to the people who are working on the lease and see if we could perhaps use the tax status of the Child Center or of Steve to satisfy the requirement for a Tax Clearance Certificate. Steve called Mr. Moussey, our contact man and he asked us to come and talk to the Land Commission’s lawyer. We were happy that we went. The lawyer is the first person that we talked to that realized the land was given to a group of men not an organization. He said that Ghana cannot tax someone or an organization that is not physically in Ghana. He is going to talk to the other lawyer and see if they can proceed without the Certificate. Maybe it will work ,maybe not ,but it is worth a try.
While we were in Tamale Steve bought 2 new tires of the green truck and we were also able to buy Hydroxychloroquine. We were excited about the Hydroxychloroquine because if we get the CoronaVirus we will take it to hopefully speed up our recovery time. Speaking of CoronaVirus, the hospital in Tamale called Nazo today and told him that the results from his test were in but they would not give them to him over the phone; they want him to come back to Tamale and get them. Nazo had Steve call to see if they would give them to Steve; they said they would not give them out over the phone but they would send them in a message over the phone. They never sent them so we still do not know if Nazo has the virus or not. We will send him to Tamale tomorrow to pick them up.
Before we left for Tamale Steve and Mr. Iddrisu went to the bank and Steve showed Mr. Iddrisu how to fill out the deposit slip. They successfully deposited money into the account. Tomorrow we are sending Mr. Iddrisu back with another deposit without Steve’s assistance. It is like raising a bunch of kids. In a few days we will send him to withdraw some money and make payroll.
Nazo has been sick and the raking of the leaves in the yard has gotten away from him. Today we asked Meri, Amama and Mr. Iddrisu to rake leaves. I know Nazo was happy for the help. The yard looks much nicer. Most of these trees drop leaves all year round so raking is an everyday occurrence.
Thank you for the love, prayers and support.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
