At least we didn’t have a vehicle problem today for our visit to Jomani ; a village located east of Yendi. In fact, this village is on the same road we have traveled the last three Sundays. The sky was very gloomy this morning. Timothy was running a little late. He said the reason for his lateness was because the firewood his wife was using to heat his bath water was wet because of the rain we had yesterday. How would you like to have to make a fire every day to heat your bathwater?
We were greeted in the village by two of the church leaders; John and David. John is a regular attendee of the monthly class. The congregation was very pleased to get the bench, pads and pen, juice, bread, cups, and a football (soccer ball). Of course, the football will be used as a way of fellowshiping with church members during the week. After services were over, we heard in the announcements there were two people at the church who needed financial assistance. The first person was a sister in the church who is in the hospital with some kind of back problems. The other person was one of the church leaders whose father had died and the church wanted to contribute some sympathy money. We added some money to the Church’s gift.
After services we asked if the chief was in his house. His house is only a stone’s throw away from the building so we walked over to see him and chatted for a few minutes. Before leaving the Church presented us with 16 yam tubers and a rooster. Timothy is always happy when that happens because he knows we share the wealth and give him the rooster and part or all of the yams.
Before class tonight at Kulkpeni we stopped by Timothy Niligrini’s house to see the addition he had built on the veranda for his sewing shop. It looks really nice and big. We hope the NGO sewing people will like his shop so he can have more apprentice tailors.
That rounds out our day. Hope you had a good Lord’s Day as well. God bless!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
