It has tried to rain off and on today but it only managed to sprinkle a little.  The ladies that work here are complaining about no rain and the lack of water.  When the rain comes they all collect rain water from their roofs.  The city water company has not even turned on the community pipes.  Our neighbors who own a well drilling rig are in the process of drilling another well on their property.  We doubt that they will have much luck getting water out of the well.  They are just a stone’s throw away from the mission house and my dad had 5 wells dug on this property and all of them have gone dry.  There is no telling how many wells the neighbors have dug on their property but they do not produce for very long.  Several of the neighbors on the other side have dug wells and they were dry.  There just does not seem to be any underground water in this area.  The last well that Dad dug was 140 feet deep and still the water would not recover fast enough to pump it to the house.  There is a 6 acre plot of land on the back part of the mission property that we are seriously considering digging a dam on.  There is a nice slop leading to the back of the property.  That might take care of our water problem and the community’s problem for a little while.  The present government promised to dig a dam in every community but only a few are being dug.

Steve taught the continuing education classes today.  One was on corruption and the other one was on child abuse.  Oh!  The one on corruption generated lots and lots of discussion.  Wednesday is our least busy day at the Child Center so we saw patients between sessions.

Divine stopped by this afternoon for a visit.  He was late getting here because his motor king broke down and he was carrying a load.  He had to hire another motor king to finish carrying the load to town.  He was not happy because he had to share the proceeds with the other driver.  He said after they off loaded the motor king they had to push it to town to the mechanics shop.  When he came to the mission house he was tired, thirsty and dirty.  He said that he is planning on buying a new motor for it because the mechanics do not seem to know how to fix it.

We spent the afternoon working on the annual Social Welfare Report so we can get a new certificate and continue to run the Center. The Child Center’s year ends at the end of May; we do not turn in the report until September but Steve will write the report and count everything at the end of May.

Please keep us and the work in your prayers.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
