We had to make our trip to Mempeasam this morning without Timothy Niligrini. Since Friday Timothy has had a headache along with arm and leg pains. Today he said the arm and leg pains had gone down but he continues to have a headache. He is going to have this blood pressure taken tomorrow at the hospital; if the BP is down and he still has the headache he will go to Tamale for Covid testing.
Now that the eastern corridor road south of Yendi is half complete our trip time was reduced by 30 minutes making it a 90 minute trip. Upon our arrival to the village some children were being trained by one of the church brothers in the church building. He was using the new material the ladies at Bethel had made. It wasn’t long before Brother Moses, one of the church leaders arrived to greet us. We begged Bro. Moses to hold services outside under the tree because of the coronavirus. I think they were surprised that we didn’t mind worshipping under the tree. A few men of the church proceeded to rake the area under the tree where we would be sitting. Had they known they would have already prepared the area. We thanked them for allowing us to be outside.
One young brother was appointed to be my interpreter. He did a very good job ! I used the opportunity to teach a lesson using the coronavirus as an example. I related the account of Job being a righteous man but Satan tried to discourage him from following God. Bad things happen because Satan is the problem. Fifty-two people were present for services. The contribution was 26 GH Cedis and 30 pesawas; equals $4.70 . I added the contribution today so some of you can understand how poor most of the congregations we work with actually are.
The Church was very glad to get the bible, metal box, pad & pen, juice, bread, cups and the crocheted hats. We took a photo of the children wearing their hats. The children really love the hats. The Church requested help with repairs to their four windows and door. I told them we would provide the money for metal windows and the door if they provide the mason, cement and sand; they agreed. We also gave some money to buy two roofing sheets to replace two damaged pieces. Our thanks go out to our supporters that provide money to help these congregations.
After we finished the short question and answer period we were invited to a church member’s house where we were given a nice meal of Fufu( pounded yam) and light stew that had a fowl in it. It was very tasty . We called the three ladies that prepared the meal and gave each of them some money. The money is given with the purpose of having something in the pot next time we should come visit because it is not proper to give money to your host for the meal you have just eaten. It breaks the law of hospitality. All three sisters were smiling! Kandie told them since they fed us she didn’t have to cook anything else for me today. How the sisters laughed!!
That wraps up another day for us. Our temperature was 108 degrees with a heat index of 120 degrees. . Hope you’re having a good Lord’s Day. May God bless!
In His service,

Kandie, when you and Steve come back home you need to make fufu so everyone can see what it is and can taste it (if the want to do so 🙃)! Thank you for all you do! Love you both so much! Ginger
