It was very hot today!  The high temperature was 108 degrees with a heat index of 142 degrees.  We did not have to worry about the clothes drying today! Ha!  We stayed in the house from 1:00 to 3:00 trying to beat the heat.  Nazo said that the dry season is coming; hopefully we will get a few more rains before the dry season comes.

Today was Yendi’s big market day.  We waited until 4:00 to go; but it was still hot.  We did not stay very long in the market.  We got what we needed and left.  We had to stop by the electric company to get the receipt from last week.  When Steve bought electricity units last week the network was down and they could not print the receipt.  Steve waited for about 45 minutes this afternoon but the network did not come back up and it was getting close to time for them to close for the day so we left.

Nazo said that the problem with the teenager that was accused of being a witch in his area is still going on.  An older woman is the one they are accusing of being the witch.  Evidently someone tried to beat her and the case was taken to the police.  The police levied a fine of 2,000 Cedis (about 400 dollars) against the father of the teenager that was accused of beating the woman (witch).  Of course he denies ever touching the woman.  They are talking about taking the case to a strong Juju man (Fetish / Witchdoctor) to have it solved.  Such a mess!

Zorash said that her volunteer group is going to start the second round of polio drops.  She said that they are going to start in the morning and they are going to immunize the same children they gave the first dose too.  How in the world they can find these children for a second dose is beyond me!

Ghana has started a “National Identification Program”.  They are supposed to get everyone registered in 21 days.  Can you imagine the amount of money that is being spent on, printers computers, vehicles, generators, salaries, finger print reading machine, training, ink and other supplies?  Everyone in Ghana will have a National Identify card and no toilet and no water.  It seems crazy to me.  If I could find that much money I would go door to door, house to house and dig everyone an outdoor toilet and then I would build incinerators to burn all the plastic bags and rubbish that is covering Ghana!  We are afraid that this program will lead to identity theft.

Thank you for the love, prayers and support.
