It rained heavily all night and we woke to the sound of rain this morning.  I told Steve that the roofer would not be working today. Around 10:00 the rain stopped.  Mr. Iddrisu called and said that he had something to do today so he would not come to work.  He will pay back his day later in the week.  The workers do not come to work when it is actively raining but they are supposed to come when it stops.  Donkey did not come at all today and he did not call, I guess he will be making up his day too.

It rained a little later in the afternoon but nothing like it did last night; it is sprinkling right now but we are in the middle of the rainy season so we should expect rain.

Steve started working on the Social Welfare report; it has to be turned in by the first of October.  They require the report to be turned in 1 month before it actually expires.  The problem is when they get the report a month early, they set the expiration date a month early so it is never a full year before the next expiration date.  This is annoying; they have to type in the expiration date for every individual license that they give out so why not mark it correctly!

I spent a little time this morning sewing; I shortened some of the pillowcase dresses that someone gave us.  They were the size to fit girls 6-8 years old and we do not see that many older children so I whacked off the bottoms and re-hemmed them.  They still think they are cute; maybe even cuter in a smaller size.  I spent the afternoon going through the charts and gathering the data for Steve’s report.

We were surprised when Timothy Niligrini called this evening and said that the roofer had finished roofing the building.  Timothy said that he had not been there this afternoon to see if indeed they had finished the work.  We rushed out there to find the roofers still up on the roof.  They were getting close to being finished.  I started walking around the yard picking up the nails, extra roofing sheets, and lumber because I was worried that it was going to get dark and we would not be able to find anything.  The roofers did finish before dark.  The roof is nice and straight!  The next step in the project is to plaster the building and put in the floors.

Please keep us in your prayers!

The Monkeyshines

I could not sleep last night!  It thundered, lightning and rain all night; it was awful!  I was so exhausted today that I had to take a nap this afternoon!

Mom fixed me a cardboard box; she closed the box and cut a hole in the side of the box and filled it with my stuffed animals.  I had a great time pulling the stuffed animals out of the box.

Dad used some sort of powder to flavor his water this afternoon; he gave me a little drink of it and it was delicious!  I kept begging for more!  Then Dad had the bright idea of putting the Ivermectin dewormer in the drink.  Dad felt sure that he could get me to drink it by hiding it in something sweet.  Mom told him that he could not trick me because she had already tried hiding that nasty stuff in several different things; to this day I refuse to drink grape juice because it scares me!  Dad secretly mixed up the drink and the medicine; I was so excited when I saw him with the bottle; I jumped up on his arm and put the nipple in my mouth; I did not even take one drink of that stuff; I could smell it!  I shook my head and gritted my teeth and immediately jumped down!  Dad tried again and I ran away; there is no way I am letting one drop of that pass my lips!

You can’t fool me!
