Rita, Timothy Niligrini’s wife had their baby yesterday afternoon. It was another girl. This makes 3 girls and 1 boy for them. Timothy thought that they were going to keep Rita overnight because they had given her some sort of medicine. Of course he did not know exactly what they had given her. We had already gone to bed last night when Rita’s sister Felicia called and said that Rita was being discharged and needed a ride home. We were surprised! Who discharges a new mother and her baby at 9:30 at night? Steve told them that it would take us a few minutes to get dressed and get to the hospital. When we got there Rita was not quite ready to be discharged; she still had an IV. We waited for them to remove it and we took her home. Timothy was surprised to see us; he thought she would not get out until the morning; such a lack of communication between staff and patients. Rita and the baby seem to be doing fine.
I forgot to tell you that on Tuesday nightTichak, the night watchman rang the door bell to tell Steve that he had seen a snake. Steve grabbed his head lamp and snake killing stick before he rushed out of the house. I was talking to Parker, one of our grandsons on the telephone when all the commotion was taking place. I walked outside and gave him a blow by blow description of the great snake hunt. Tichak said the snake was very poisonous; it was in one of the bushes in the flower bed next to the front veranda. Tichak was resting on the veranda when he saw it moving in the bushes. We are happy to be rid of one more snake!
The men from Town and Country Planning came this morning to do the mini survey of the mission property. They were not here very long; all they did was walk around the perimeter of the property and look at the marking pillars. They had no idea when the “letter of commit” would be ready for us. We have not paid them yet so maybe they will get on it so they can get their money.
We got all the files counted at the Child Center this afternoon and Steve has about ¾’s of the report written. Maybe we can finish it tomorrow.
One of the elders from the palace came to the mission house this afternoon to get a pair of reading glasses. He lost the other pair we gave him. We buy the cheap reading glasses at the Dollar Tree so we can give them to those that are getting older and finding it difficult to read. They really appreciate getting the glasses. They call them “spectacles”.
Thanks for all you do! Please keep us in your prayers.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
