We noticed that Nazo was not working yesterday; he was just sitting under the mango tree.  We thought that the heat had gotten to him.  Steve made the comment to me that we need to get ready for more sitting around because Ramadan, the month long fast for the Muslims starts next month.  This morning Nazo told us that yesterday he had gotten word that the new King, the Ya-Na had died.  He said that everyone kept calling him to find out if it was true or not.   Nazo said all he knew was that he had traveled to Kumasi then Accra.  The people that do not like the new Ya-Na were dressed in white jubilating in the streets; white is the color of the traditional funeral cloth.  The Ya-Na finally got on the media and said that he was not dead but very much alive and that he was not going to die today and he was not going to die tomorrow.  Nazo said that he was so worried when he heard the thing because he did not know if it was true or not.  He said that he was so worried that he could not work; all he could do was sit and worry; he said that he was so worried that he even had to defecate 2 times yesterday afternoon!  He held up two fingers and said, “Imagine 2 times!”  I think that was more information than even I needed!  It appears that it was all lies told by someone that hates the Ya-Na and it was easy to spread the rumors because of the telephone lines and social media.

A new set of orphan twins were brought to the Center this morning.  They were both boys.   They were 7 days old and their mother died yesterday in Yendi hospital with severe chest pain.    We asked them what they had been giving the babies to eat and they said nothing but water.  We explained the dangers of feeding a baby water and told them that in the future if there was an orphan baby they should feed it formula.  Three ladies brought the babies and they were all still confused about what to do with the babies; they did not know who was going to take care of the babies or where they would be living.  We told them that there was plenty of time for them to decide that and the important thing was to start feeding them on a regular schedule.  The babies were small; one weight 1.6 kg and the other 1.8 kg.  We mixed the formula and fed them.  They burped and immediately fell asleep; nothing like getting your belly full!

We spent part of the afternoon working on the employees’ individual tax returns.  This is the first year they have had to fill them out so none of us knew what we were doing.  Finally we filled out Mr. Iddrisu’s copy and had him take it to the IRS office to see if we had filled it correctly.  We had only made a few mistakes which we corrected.  We hope to turn them in on Monday.

Divine is at the gate; he got back from Tamale late in the night last night.  He only got half of the paper work we needed but half is better than nothing.  He is supposed to go for the other next week.  Divine is here now to get some of the left over thatch.  The wind took the thatch off his pig barn and his pigs are suffering from the heat.

It is almost time for Bible study.  Have a great day!

In His Service,
