It has been a long time since we had a day like today. It all began when I checked the driver’s side front tire this morning. I checked the pressure and it was low; 20psi. I pumped it up with the air compressor and off we went to pick up Timothy Niligrini. Our travels took us to the village of Nalongni which is located SW of Yendi. It is the same area that we traveled to last week, only further. As we arrived at the church building the rain started falling from dark wispy clouds.  We had to wait 15-20 minutes before services started to give the church members a chance to arrive during the intermittent showers.

The worship service was very nice. Timothy interpreted for me as I taught the lesson about dreams and visions. When I see there is a lot of interest generated by a lesson that I present, I will continue to use that same lesson each week unless another subject is requested. This particular lesson makes for some interesting questions.

After services Kandie met with the women and I took our bibles to the pickup.  As I was about to open the door, I noticed the front tire was half flat! I said to myself” Oh, boy!”  I dug out the tools behind the back seat.  When I couldn’t find the hole to the crank down the spare tire I moved on to get the hydraulic jack and crawled under the truck, mud and all!  Guess what? The jack was low on fluid.  I asked if there was anyone selling transmission fluid and was told there might be someone in the village. Benard, one of the church leaders, and I walked to the shop selling motor oil. He didn’t have transmission fluid but he did have brake fluid. I bought some; filled up the jack but it still didn’t work. Had to go to plan “B”.  We walked around the village until we found a man who had a big hydraulic jack. It worked but the crank receiver was missing a bolt. One of the guys found a nail to use in place of the missing bolt. It worked! To shorten the story, we had more help than needed getting the truck jacked up and changing the tire. My pants and shirt were a mess. My hands were black with grime but the tire was changed. I begged off visiting the chief due to my dirty clothes and hands. We did send kola to the chief. I was just glad to have the help. After dropping off Timothy I told Kandie I was going straight into Yendi and buy a new jack; which we did.

Tonight, at Kulkpeni class, I was asked to teach a class about marriage. Most of the men attending the class are unmarried.  Sexual promiscuity is commonplace with the young people in Ghana. Tonight’s class dealt with recognizing this sin and how to take measures to prevent it from happening.

Hope you had a good Lord’s Day. May God bless!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
