Today we visited the congregation at Sakpei located east of Yendi. The air-conditioning is not cooling in the green pickup so we drove with the windows down as the nice, cool 113 degree breeze blew through the pickup. It is the dry season!!!!

We were warmly welcomed (no pun intended) by two young men when we arrived at the church building. When several older men arrived they took us to the chief’s house. He wasn’t at home so we left the kola with an older son to be given to the chief later.

Upon returning to the church building we were met by many more church members.  Instead of having bible class the time allotted was given to me for preaching; Timothy Niligrini interpreted. I presented my lesson of “The Unchanging God”.  Some of you might remember this lesson from last year.  I use a key and padlock to illustrate God’s salvation as the padlock and the key is the word of God that unlocks salvation.

After services Kandie requested the women with small babies and children ages 3 and below to meet with her on the front bench.   I went out to the truck and brought in some of the children’s hats that had been crocheted and so generously donated to the work.  Oh how the mothers and the children loved getting the hats.  After we walked outside, the men asked for some help purchasing cement to redo the floor of the building and install a larger wooden door. The Church is supplying the sand and the man power so we helped with building supplies.  The men were happy!!

Before leaving for town we were presented with some of the largest Labacore yams I have ever seen. This variety of yam is the cream of the crop in Northern Ghana.  We thanked the brothers for the gift.

Today was Yendi Market Day so many women wanted ride.   After dropping off the last church member we were surprised when 13 women we did not know made a mad dash to get in the back of the pickup.  Kandie and Timothy had to get out to organize the situation.  We left as many women standing on the side of the road as we had in the back of the pickup!!! Every woman had a small load of goods for the market.

Yesterday we contracted with Brother Divine to purchase bundles of thatch from the village to re-thatch the office and guest roundhouse. We were happy and surprised to see him bring them today.  It will take 60-80 bundles of thatch to do the job. He delivered 30 today.

That sums it up for the day.  Hope you having a great Lord’s Day and may God bless!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
