We left Tamale this morning at 6:30 and arrived at the mission house in time to unload the van before it was time to open the Child Center.  Everyone was surprised to see Jack.  I think it has been 3 years since he was here.

Yesterday while we were traveling we stopped and bought a gallon of palm oil for each of the workers.  The workers that were here today were excited about their gift.  They will use the palm oil to make stew and soup; it is used more as flavoring oil than frying oil.  The only thing that I know of anyone frying in the oil is the fresh water shrimp that are caught out of the Volta Lake.

This morning the little crippled girl that uses a baby stroller as her walker came to the Center.  She had worn out another stroller.  Last time we replaced her stroller we kept the old one.  We were able to take the 2 strollers apart and make one good one.  It is not very strong; we will look for one next time we are in Tamale.

Shortly after we ate lunch Ibrahim, the leper that we helped get a prosthesis several years ago came to the mission house with his wife.  They brought us a dozen tubers of yams.  They had heard that we were back in Ghana and they wanted to come and greet us.  They are in the process of building a mud ball house; we had promised them 2 packets of used roofing sheets when they got the walls made.  We had to haul the roofing sheets in the old van because the green truck had 2 flat tires.  Ibrahim and his wife were pleased with the gift.  The roofing sheets were part of the ones we took off the mission house when we replaced the roof a few years ago.  Mr. Iddrisu and Nazo went with us.

We went to the market in search of fabric this afternoon.  Dahlia, our niece, needed fabric to make her friend a shirt.  The vendors only like to sell the fabric in 6 yard lengths and we only needed 3 yards.  Jack, our great nephew, decided he would buy the other 3 yards and have a shirt made too.

While we were in the market looking for the fabric we bought vegetables, fruit and a few groceries.

We are tired so I will close for now.

In His Service,

Steve, Kandie, Dahlia and Jack
