We were in the middle of our walk this morning when Zorash called.  The peanuts were roasted and she was ready to go with us to the grinding mill.  We finished our walk and we quickly mixed the powdered milk, sugar, and salt that we add to the peanuts to make the peanut protein paste.  We could not go to the grinding mill we usually go to because the electricity in our section of town is too low to run the machine.  We are having a hard time with the electricity at the mission house too.  Last night it ruined Steve’s C-Pap machine.  Now all the machine does is flash “service machine.” There is nowhere to get it serviced around here.

We have not stopped all day.  After grinding the peanuts we took the old van to the mechanic to get it serviced.  When we started the Motorking (the 3 wheeled motorcycle truck thing) it was leaking oil and blowing white smoke.  We called the motorcycle mechanic; he came out right away and said that it needed new pistons and rings.  When we explained that we needed it today to haul cement blocks and sand out to Kulkpeni for the building project he said that he would pull a couple other mechanics and get it done quickly.   He had it finished by lunch time which was wonderful for us.

We hired a couple young guys to help us haul blocks and sand.  Mr. Iddrisu and Nazo also helped.  The guys worked hard all day; at lunch time when Steve gave them their “chop” food money we passed out ibuprofen too!  Hauling blocks and shoveling sand is hard work!  They finished around 3:30.  Everything is almost ready for the masons to start work on Monday morning.  We even got the water tank taken to Kulkpeni and filled with water.  We will take more sand, cement, and blocks to the worksite as they need them.

We stopped by Red’s welding shop to see how he was coming along making the metal boxes for the churches.  He said the welder spoiled and had to be sent to Tamale.  We suggested he borrow the one that is at the mission house so he could get back to work.  He thought that was a good idea.

Mr. Oldman, our neighbor stopped by for a visit this evening.  He wanted to extend his sympathy to Steve in the loss of his brother.  We sent some chewing gum and little metal cars to his 4 year old son.  He thinks Steve is grand!

Take care and thanks so much for all you do for us!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
