I was lucky this morning in that when I hooked up the old van’s battery it popped right off.  That was important because we had to drop off the green pickup at the fitters before we went on to the village of Kpanjamba, east of Yendi to worship.

When we arrived at our destination there was plenty of time to go across the road from the church building and greet the chief. He was working on a shot gun.  He had replaced the upper wooden stock the gun barrel rest on. He was sanding the barrel to get some of the rust off.  Kandie tried to get the Chief to sell her the old vise he was using to hold the gun barrel but to no avail.

It had been some time since we visited this congregation. Several of the men were not present.  One church member had been taken to Yendi Hospital but was later transferred to Tamale for treatment. There was still a goodly number of adults present: twenty-six. The church was happy to get the gifts we brought this morning: a Bible, juice and unleavened bread, cups, pad & pen, and a strong box for their papers. We also left a bag of crocheted hats to be given out to the children of the congregation first and then to the village children.

During the question and answer period after services there were several questions asked about the Moslem faith. Kpanjamba has a mixed population of Christians and Moslems. Just before we finished a request was put forward to us to help with their church building. They have money to plaster the outside walls of the building with cement but their doors and windows have been eaten by termites.  I took measurements of the doors and we told the members we would check on the price of metal doors. Later we found out the doors will cost the equivalent of $75 each.

After eating a late lunch and resting, this afternoon Kandie and I went into town to find some Lactogen 1 (baby formula).  We had more orphan babies than we excepted while we were home so our supply was down to zero. Today is one of those times we call “hunting and gathering” to find Lactogen. We were lucky enough to find 30 cans so that will last a couple of days until our order arrives on Tuesday.

We hope you had a good day.  Please keep us in your prayers.  May God bless!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
