Today was another hot day! The high temperature was 113 degrees with a heat index of 129 degrees. It is difficult to drink enough water to stay hydrated in this heat.
Dahlia helped me enter receipts this morning while Steve and Jack worked with the babies. Zorash was not much help this morning. She has some sort of stomach distress. I gave her some medicine but she was lying on the bench and dozed most of the morning. We finally sent her home early; we asked her to go to the doctor but she did not think that she needed to go.
We treated ourselves to lunch from the fast food restaurant; Jack and I are like the Banku (fermented corn dough ball with okra soup) Steve and Dahlia ate the rice with tomato oil. It was delicious and we did not have to cook!
Steve could not pump up the two flat tires on the green truck today because the air compressor had a problem. My Dad brought the compressor over here in one of the first shipments he sent. It has been well used for over 20 years! The threaded tube leading to the regulator sheared off. Steve worked with it for a long time before he gave up and took it to Mr. Adams, our fix-it man; he was able to get the tube that had sheared off unscrewed and the new one reattached. I heard the compressor running a little while ago so I presume it is working again.
After it cooled down we went the market in search of eggs and cokes. We found the eggs but had no luck finding cokes. Jack decided that he wanted a cup of coffee. He brought a French coffee press because last time he was here he was not particularly fond of the instant coffee. His coffee press got broken on the trip. The luggage handlers are very rough with the luggage. We cut the top off of a large tin can and made our own press. Jack was impressed with the results.
A lady came to the Child Center this morning selling fabric; of course we could not resist buying some! It is great to be able to shop while you work! And you guys thought “shopping on line” was the way to go!
Please keep us and the work in your prayers.
In His Service,
Steve, Kandie, Dahlia and Jack
