Oops! I almost forgot to write the Yendi Notes! Steve had already gone to bed but he is up now! Ha! Isn’t he the lucky one? He said that he would send them as soon as I finished writing them.
We had a lazy day today, as soon as we got up this morning, we hired a taxi to take us to the Art Center so I could do a little shopping. All the bags we brought from the states weigh 50 pounds which is the maximum amount they can have on the international flight but the domestic airline that we will fly up to Yendi tomorrow does not care how much each bag weighs because they charge us by the kilo for each bag. Steve was worried that I would not have any room to put things if I bought them but none of our bags was over loaded to the point that we could not make room for the things I bought. I do most of the buying; Steve is just along to carry the stuff I buy and to keep a running total of the amount I spend. He carries a pen and receipt book; he is a good secretary.
We had a beautiful day today; Ghana is in the middle of the rainy season so the weather was cooler today. The van driver told us yesterday that it had been cold for the past 3 weeks! He said that at night it was terrible cold. The temperature was in the high 80’s today but the Ghanaians feel the cold worse than we do.
In the middle of the afternoon, we hired another taxi and went to a Lebanese restaurant. Our meal was lovely! We always eat far too much when we go there. Lebanese / Mediterranean food is my one weakness! Ha!
The manager of the apartment / hotel that we are staying in said that business had been very slow. He said that since they had not had many people staying here it was difficult for them to pay for the electricity because the electric company had raised the price of electricity 17% since we left in May. Ouch! That will hurt everyone!
We will head up to Yendi tomorrow. Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to travel.
In HIS Service,
Steve and Kandie
