We planned on leaving mid-morning and going to Tamale to do some business but we had so many babies and mothers at the Child Center that we did not get a break until noon. By the time we finished with the babies it was too late to go to Tamale. Seventy-four babies came to the Center this morning. We will try again tomorrow.
Anthony, one of the young men that graduated from the Tamale school of preaching stopped by this afternoon for a visit. He would love to be put on payroll but we are not planning on hiring any more preachers. Last year we helped him and his wife start a small business. Today he had another problem. His wife’s mother has been sick so his wife went to help out. The way we understand the story her mother is sick. The village his in-laws live in is quite a long way from Yendi and his wife’s uncle wants him to come and discuss how best to help the family. Anthony did not have enough money to make the trip so he came to ask for assistance in getting to and from the village. Of course Steve gave him the money to make the trip
We spent most of the afternoon working on the books. We should have gotten them done at the end of February but we are just now getting time to do them. We are happy that we are caught up for the moment.
Mr. Iddrisu came to work today but we did not see much of him. Today was the day that he went to the SSNIT office and the IRS office to pay the taxes. It is an all day affair to get them done; lots of going and coming and hurry up and wait. Everything is supposed to be done on the computer but it seems that the computer takes them longer than paper and pencil.
Tichak, the night watchman stopped by for a visit today. We very seldom see him during the daylight hours. He has been off work for a week attending his mother-in-laws funeral. She died last year. When someone dies they bury the person immediately then 3 or 4 days later they have a small funeral; the following year during the dry season they have a big funeral. Tichak had to buy a cow to celebrate her funeral. This is funeral “season”.
Thanks so much for your help! We really appreciate all you do.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
