A couple of the church brothers that could not come yesterday came to the mission house today.  Daniel Batoln wanted to ride his motorcycle but his number plate was expired.  We were afraid for him to drive it to Yendi for fear the police would stop him and seize his motorcycle.  We told him just to get on a market car to come.  He was the first person here this morning.  It takes a couple hours for him to get to Yendi.

Yesterday was the first day of Ramadan, the Muslim month long fast.  When they fast they are all tired and have no energy.  The poor women have to get up at 3 in the morning to start the fires and cook food before the sun comes up.  The people fast from sunup to sundown.  They cannot even drink anything.  Taking medicine is another problem because they are not supposed to take anything.  The doctors try to adjust the prescriptions so they take them during the night time.

Steve talked to Bro. Richard today; he is one of the men that came to Kulkpeni a couple years ago to hold a seminar for us.  He just got back into Ghana last night.  He had been on a mission trip to Canada.  Isn’t that wild, missionaries from Ghana are going out to other countries?  Steve tells the men that he works with that he wants to teach them very well because one day they will need to go to the United States to do mission work.

Gomda called this afternoon and said that he hopes to have the truck ready tomorrow. Steve said that he wants to drive it around Yendi for a while before he takes it on any long trips just to make sure that it is running well.

Abenada, John Kanbonja’s widow stopped by the mission house this morning.  She had been to the doctor and he had prescribed some medicine for her that she did not have the money to pay for.  We pay for her health insurance and the health insurance for their children but sometimes the hospitals do not have the medicine that they prescribe.  Steve was more than happy to help her buy the medicine.  Abinata has HIV and is in constant need of medical treatment.

We are in the process of making a shelf in the tool room for the power tools.  It will be nice when we get it all organized and we can easily find our junk!

Take care and have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
