Kandie and Gina worked at the Child Center this morning while Steve and I went to Kulkpeni to do some work to prepare for the Seminar that starts on Thursday. On the way out, we had to stop to pick up some wire so that the electrician could finish putting lighting in the new buildings.
Steve and I were tasked with re-installing the church bell that had to be removed while construction was going on. We needed to dig a hole in the ground for the pole that the bell mounted to. It was like digging a hole in a parking lot, the ground was so hard and dry. I scraped a small area in the shape of a bowl and we poured water into it and waited. We dug a little, poured a little, dug a little, poured a little. Finally, we had a hole deep enough. We erected the pole and put some concrete in to hold it. Of course it was about 105 degrees outside.
During our return, Mr. Hayes, who is the Pharmacy Distributor, called Steve. Mr. Hayes is the man that Steve gets the Vitamins and other supplements for the Children Center. We stopped by his office to discuss some supply issues that got worked out. Mr. Hayes seemed like a very nice and honest man who goes out of his way to help the Taylors.
Gina and Kandie saw about 35 babies. Of these there were 9 new 1st time visits and 2 sets of twins.
After lunch we spent some time dividing a large bag of sugar into smaller bags to be used for the seminar. Gina and Kandie worked on organizing some office supplies for the seminar.
I have held a variety of jobs over my lifetime. During high school I worked as warehouse sorter for UPS; then I went into the Navy as an Operations Specialist/Air Controller; during College I worked at Frito Lay and made Cheetos and also at a Meat Processing plant that made wieners; worked at Boeing as an engineer; and Co-found an Engineering Company. I can now add another role to my Resume – Toilet Paper maker. Yes, that’s right! I took a pile of newspapers and cut them into squares on a paper cutter for the seminar attendees. Typically, in “the bush” they would use a stick. I hope it wasn’t Knotty Pine, OUCH!
Next, we put batteries in 40 wall clocks that will be provided to every congregation that attended the Seminar. Gina and Kandie abandoned me before we were finished to go to the market to shop.
Tomorrow the cooks will arrive at the seminar to start making preparations for feeding all the guests that will begin to arrive Thursday morning. Tomorrow will be a busy day tying up any loose ends before the seminar starts.
Please pray for the safety of the brethren as they start to travel to the seminar.
