We are in Tamale again! We are spending the night because we were not able to get everything we needed done today. We drove 2 vehicles over today because the blue van has an air conditioning problem. It obviously has a slow leak. It takes 3 or 4 months for it to stop cooling all together. The mechanic said he needed to have it for a while so he could open it and see if he can find the leak.
After we dropped off the van we came to the hotel and dropped off our baggage; no need hauling that all over town with us. We went to the Registrar General’s office to find out how to proceed with the registration. The guy we met was of very little help. He told us to go on line, get the form we needed, print it, fill it out and bring it back to him. He told us the website of their office. When we asked which form we needed to fill out he said we should just look through them and find the one that said, “Limited by Guarantee”. Really! Steve brought the computer and the printer in case we needed to write up anything. After supper Steve got on line and hunted for the form. He printed off something; not sure if it is the right form. He was going to print off another couple forms but could not get them to print. We will stop back by tomorrow before we leave for Yendi.
We had better luck at the IRS office. We went there to find out how much gift tax had to be paid on the property. They were very kind to us. They called someone in Yendi and asked how much a plot of land in our area was selling for; they calculated the cost according to the number of plots on the land. It took a while but we got the figures and got it paid. We can check that off our “to do” list. We have to go back there again in the morning to pick up the Tax ID number. The one the office in Yendi generated was not the right one.
We had a lovely Indian meal tonight at the hotel; curried beef, tandoori chicken, fresh bread, curried potatoes, it was all lovely. I ate far too much and can barely bend over! Ha! The hotel is suffering because of Ghana’s locked borders and the Covid. They have cut the staff down to the bare bones. The managers are doing all of the work themselves. Maybe things will relax soon and more visitors and tourists will come to Ghana.
Our dear friend Roberta has had a serious operation on her knee. She is out of surgery and is in for a long recovery time. We are sure that she would appreciate your prayers.
