It was strange going out to the bush this morning without having Timothy Niligrini riding along. Timothy’s daughter Abigail traveled to Tamale yesterday, with her dad, to register at the technical school she had been selected by the Ghana Educational Service to attend. The way it turned out they couldn’t register everyone yesterday and had to stay in Tamale in hopes of getting registered today.  We haven’t heard if they were successful; so who knows? Kandie and I went south to the village of Bakpaba to worship.

We arrived early.  While I was outside talking with Brother Moses, one of the church leaders, we met the chief as he was making his way to church. Of course, the chief was happy for us to visit the village and the Church. He was also happy to get his kola money. It’s nice to be respected.

After “singing” in some of the late church members I was given the opportunity to preach. Yes, it was about dreams again!  I’m sure Kandie could tell you this lesson verbatim but it is fresh information to the audience and we do get some interesting questions after services.

Kandie asked to have the ladies stay in the building so she could talk with them while I was outside with the men. It was long after that someone came carrying a large head pan full of yams as a gift for us. When Kandie thanked the people for the wonderful yams, she said,” you gave Brother Steve a wonderful gift and you gave me lots of hard work. The people laughed when she mimicked a woman pounding Fufu.

When it was time to leave, we headed to Brother Zack’s house just up the road to palaver about two pigs he was willing to sell. I bought a huge pig from him last year for the seminar and at this time of the year I am on the lookout for pigs to slaughter for the seminar. Pigs are quite expensive! These hogs are market size with an approximate weight of 300-350 lbs. The price for each pig is equivalent to $290 USD. Pork is the meat of choice for funerals and special occasions for the Konkomba tribe and the closer it gets to funeral time the more expensive they become.  I still need several more hogs but Brother Divine said he had some to sell.

When lunch was over Kandie and I continued working on the payroll.  We were able to get the majority of it finished. Sure hope you had a good Lord’s Day and we wish all of you a good week ahead. May God bless!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
