We tried again this morning to find the sewing machine mechanic but once again he was not in his shop.  I think we will have to try at some other time of the day.  We tried his phone a couple more times but it is still switched off.  We thought that surely he would be around today because it was Yendi’s big market day.

While we were in town, we took advantage of the cooler weather and wandered around the market to see what we could find.  We took 2 shopping bags with us to the market and filled both of them and had to get some additional bags.  We remembered to buy the soybeans and we also bought a few more bowls of corn; we want to go ahead and make 2 batches so we don’t have to make the weaning mix so often.  We were pleased that the price of the corn was the same as when we left and that the price of the soybeans had come down.

This morning while we were walking Steve called Divine, the guy that helps us with the church’s paperwork.  While we were gone Timothy and Divine had all the church leaders come to the mission house to sign their papers.  We just wanted to see how everything went and what needed to be done next.  Divine said that he was in town buying Shea nuts.  He is going to buy them now as they are being harvested and pack them down until the price goes up so he can make extra money.  He packed down soybeans last year which are usually a very good cash crop but he said this morning that he had lost a serious amount of money when he sold the soybeans.  He said the price had not gone up like he expected it.  I guess that is why the ones we bought for the weaning mix were cheaper.  Last year the Shea nut crop was not very good because of the drought; Divine said that the Shea nuts look very good this year.  He is going to come to the mission house next week and give us a full report about the church work.

This morning, we got all the baby clothes sorted and put in tubs.  We have to keep the clothes inside a plastic container or they will be so dusty by the time we get ready to distribute them again that we would have to wash all of the clothes.  I thought that I was going to spend the day sewing but that did not happen!  Steve did finish the monthly report and I got it edited just before supper.

Take care, Keep us and the work in your prayers.

The Monkeyshines

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time inside today!  I am getting stronger every day!  The parents tie my leash around the leg of one of the dining room chairs while Mom is in the kitchen; I have figured out that I am strong enough to move the chair; I can lung and pull and the chair moves.  With several of these lunges I can get to places where they keep the good stuff; I can reach the table and steal a pen or marker; I can reach the couch and pull down all of Mom’s freshly stacked baby clothes!  When we are in the bedroom they try to keep me on a shorter leash; they bury the leash  down in the side of the waterbed between the mattress and the sideboard.  The waterbed mattress is heavy but I have figured out that if I can get hold of something stable like the desk I can pull and pull on my leash and the whole thing will pop out from between the mattress and all of a sudden, I AM FREE!  I try not to make too much noise when I get free so I can jump up on the desk and grab stuff I am not supposed to have!  Still to this day my favorite things to grab are Bic ink pens and Mom’s straight pins with those cute plastic pin heads!

I had to go in the time out box twice today but only twice!  The first time I jumped up on Dad’s shoulder and reached over and bit his ear!  I could not help myself; his ear was just sitting there begging to be bit!  The second time I got Mom; I was hiding under the quilt that was hanging off the bed; she walked past me and I ran over and bit her on the back of her leg; I was trying to scare her!  It was great fun until I found myself inside the time out box!  But in my defense, I was just playing with her!  I did not make her bleed; I did not even leave a bruise but I still got put into time out!

I am so strong!  I think I might be a “super hero”!
