We had to get up at 5:30 this morning to catch our flight to Accra. We arrived around 9:00. The flight was good. We had to wait a few minutes for the van driver to pick us up.
We spent part of the day working on the books for the Child Center and finishing the itemization of the expenses for the seminar. Marcus helped me with the calculations. It is always amazing the amount of food that we buy for the seminar; this year we bought 900 pounds of rice, 125 pounds of beans, 100 pounds of sugar, 35 gallons of cooking oil, 550 loaves of bread, 6 pigs, plus lots and lots of ingredients. The seminar is so much work but it is worth it to see how happy it makes the people.
Steve coughed all night long; I am not sure which one of us got less sleep. This afternoon we found a drug store and bought cough syrup, cough drops and vitamin C with Zinc. If we do not kill him we will cure him! Ha!
For lunch today we went over to the area where the hotel we used to stay in is. We bought sandwiches, French fries and baguettes for lunch then we went to a very modern super market that is run by the Lebanese and bought hummus, chips, pita bread, olives, salami, and drinks for supper. We did not want to go out for supper because it would be dark by the time we ate and hired a taxi to take us back to the hotel. We don’t like to be out after dark.
The lights were burned out in our room so we went out hunting for bulbs. We had to check several shops before we found someone selling them. It is not as hot down here in Accra as it is in Yendi so we did not mind the walk. We are not staying in a hotel; we are staying in an apartment so there are no amenities. But the people who run it are nice and the place is clean.
We are tired, we plan to make an early evening of it. Take care and keep us in your prayers.
In His Service,
Steve, Kandie & Marcus
