We wanted to go to the carving village / cultural center this morning to do some last minute shopping so we hired a taxi and headed out at 10:00. Red left Kumasi on Sunday and drove the van back to Yendi so we had no driver or car. We had a very fruitful morning of shopping; we got almost everything that Jack and Dahlia were looking for plus a few extras.

We stopped at a mini mall and had Lebanese food for lunch. Our next stop was the Forex, the money exchangers. We had to wait for a little while for them to get the denominations that we needed.

As soon as we got to the hotel we started repacking and weighing luggage. We wanted to make sure that there were no hiccups when we got to the airport.

We hired a van and took Jack and Dahlia to the airport at 5:30. Their plane does not fly until eleven something. The check in usually starts at 6:30; we wanted to be the first ones in line because if you wait until later in the evening it becomes a mad house. Imagine getting 300+ people and all their luggage loaded. We had a little time to kill after we got to the airport so we went upstairs to the little food court; Dahlia and I had ice cream. Yum!

We stayed at the airport until Jack and Dahlia got checked in and passed through passport control and security.  There is a nice place on the other side of security for them to wait until it is time to board the plane.  There are even a few places to get a coke and a bite to eat.

The Delta agent could not check Dahlia’s bags all the way to her final destination because her ticket from New York to Accra was purchased at a different time than her ticket from her house to New York. She will have to go to the Delta desk in New York and recheck her luggage after she claims it in New York. They checked Jack’s all the way to Huntsville but he will still claim his luggage and take it through customs but all he has to do is put his on the conveyor belt outside of the customs office.

Please keep them in your prayers as they travel home.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
