We went back to the IRS office this morning. They call it the GRA office; Ghana Revenue Authority. They seemed to be happy with the forms we filled out and the amount of money we were bringing them for sales tax and I predicted they want us to go back for the past 6 years and bring them the sales tax on the items the Child Center bought over the past 6 years. I asked if there were going to be penalties involved and they indicated that they were going to wave the penalties. I hope they are as good as their word. Luckily we have all the receipts entered on an Excel program so it will not be too difficult to pull it all together; just time consuming. The guy at the IRS office asked if we wanted him to send some of his auditors out to the mission house to help with the audit. No Thank You! The books have already been audited by a professional auditor. We just have to gather the receipts for each vendor that totals 2000 Cedis or more for the year. Most of our receipts are for small items from lots of different vendors. We have almost finished 2017.
Zorash came back to work this morning. She had a good trip and the funeral was a success. The ladies that work in the Child Center only work ½ days so Zorash had planned on working the rest of the day to make up for her day off but she got called away for one of her volunteer programs.
Mr. Iddrisu said he had to go to Kpamang this morning to pay the guy who plowed his field; he was going to go early and then come to work but he never showed up for work. There must have been a problem with the plowing.
We met Divine in town this afternoon; he is building a house at Kulkpeni very close to Timothy’s house. He said that the masons had finished raising the walls and he was finished working on it until his crops are harvested and he gets some more money. He said that he has already planted his peanuts and they have germinated. He is an excellent farmer! He has been trying to help Mr. Iddrisu with his farming but Mr. Iddrisu is sort of a lazy farmer; he wants to hire out the work and farmers don’t make much money unless there is a lot of their own labor put into the work.
Thank you for all you do for us and for the work! Please keep us in your prayers.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
