Almost every day, John the mason tells us that he is going to finish the wall tomorrow.  Everyone that sees the wall says that the wall is going to keep the people out and keep them from pooping on the church’s land.  Guess what!  Someone came around the wall and pooped in front of the bath house!  What a mess!  The mason was astonished!  We told him that the only thing the wall was going to do was to protect it from squatters and keep the motorcycles and motor kings from driving across the property.  It will help with some of the foot traffic too; more than half of the people at Kulkpeni live across the road from the church building and they walk across the property to get to the well to fetch water.  One of the chief’s elders came today and said that when the wall is complete the chief is going to call a meeting of all the neighbors around the building and warn them that they are to stay off the property.  We are not sure if they will care what the chief says but we are happy to know he is in our corner.

All the workers except Donkey were late for work this morning.  Meri went to visit the funeral house of her aunt that died several days ago; Mr. Iddrisu had to take his daughter to the hospital because she was sick and we never found out why Zorash and Amama were late.  I joked with them and told them that today was “Late for Work Thursday”!  They thought that was pretty funny; usually they do not get our jokes!

Steve got the taxes downloaded into the GRA (IRS) website this morning and Mr. Iddrisu paid them this afternoon.  Steve also had to go to GRA this morning to pay the tax on the hotel/apartment that we stayed in last month when we went to Accra to get our visas.

There is something wrong with the steering column in the old van; it is making a popping noise.  Gomda said that there are 6 bearings in the column and 4 of them are broken.  He is trying to find a steering column to replace it; he said he located an old van that might work.  The problem with getting something from another old van is that there is no guarantee that its steering column is not in worse shape than ours.

Thank you for all you do for us and for the work.

The Monkeyshines

I am very busy right now!  I am trying to take a nap with Dad.  I had to do a lot of begging and whining to get him to move up far enough on the bed so I could cuddle down and take a nap!  I begged and pulled on him until he moved.   In a few minutes we will both be asleep!  I just finished drinking a whole bottle of the wonderful milk and cereal mixture that Mom feeds me.  I am little and I still get 4 bottles a day!  When my tummy is full I need a nap!

I killed a big grasshopper!  We were working in the Child Center and I saw a huge green one jumping around the yard!  I pounced on it but then I had to roll it around on the ground until it was fully dead!  Once I was positive that it was dead I dismembered it and ate it.  I can tell when they are fully dead because they stop twitching!  I lost one of the legs while I was rolling it around; it was not my lucky day!

Follow my advice, “Always take a nap after a big meal!”
