A man came to the Child Center this morning that had been bitten by a snake. He had to borrow the money to pay for the ASV (anti-snake venom medicine). Fortunately Bro. Elam had given us money for ASV and we were in turn able to help this man clear his debt. He was very grateful for the help!
Warihana, the 12 year old that has osteomyelitis of the long bone in her right leg came back to the Center this morning. Her leg did not look good; it was severely swollen and her father said that the wound had opened up again. She was in more pain that she usually is in. They have an appointment with the bone specialist in Tamale tomorrow. We are happy that they are going back. Steve gave them the money for their transport to and from Tamale.
Dauda, the mason, finished the repair work on the buildings at Kulkpeni. It looks nice but now it needs a coat of paint. We will take Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu out there and let them paint the buildings; especially the ones that had to be repaired. The village children at Kulkpeni are terrible; last time we hire Timothy’s son Isaac to watch the buildings and even with him there watching someone used a stick and dug into the fresh plaster. We were afraid the same thing would happen today; there were 3 larger boys hanging around; they looked like they were just waiting for us to leave to start picking at the fresh cement. We decided to ask the rowdy boys if they wanted to make a little money and watch the building for us. They were all smiles when Steve gave them each a 1 cedi note. Timothy told them that he knew who they were and if the buildings got marked up they would have to give back the money. They promised to keep watch not only for other kids but for the animals as well. We will see how well “Plan B” will work.
I lost count of how many trips Steve made to Kulkpeni and back today. We brought back a load when we brought the masons back to Yendi but we still have at least 2 more trips; we decided to save that for tomorrow when we have more help.
Late this afternoon we started counting payroll and making up the workers pay packets for this month. We only got about ½ of it done. It is a pain because we have to take out taxes. Some of the workers get paid by the week and some by the month. Nazo gets paid both by the week and by the month.
Please keep the work in your prayers.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
