Timothy Niligrini brought Simeon from Sakuka to the mission house this morning to visit with us. Simeon is going to move from Sakuka to his home town of Gnani. Simeon needed help to hire a motor king to transport his personal stuff and yams to Gnani. Simeon has been helping the church in Sakuka for a long time; probably more than 10 years. The church is struggling because it is made up mostly of women and children. They have not been able to put up a church building yet. They meet in the school. One of the other men has a sister that believes she has the ability to heal the sick miraculously! The church members are struggling because it is so hard for them to believe that she is just putting on a show for them. There are a lot of faith healers on the television. Most of the Christians have come out of paganism so they were raised on a steady diet of witchcraft, divination, and interpretation of dreams. It is just a tiny step for those that have given up witchcraft to fall for the schemes of the faith healers. We are worried about what will happen to the church when Simeon leaves. Please pray that this struggling congregation will remain faithful.
We spent the whole day running back and forth to town trying to find the parts we need to fix the leak in the water line from the big poly tank to the upper tank. The leak is very small; a drip about every 5 seconds but when we are holding water in the tank for 8 months that is a loss we do not want to have. Oh! Let’s get real! It is a loss that I do not want to have! Steve would have rather left it alone! Ha! We finally found all the parts we needed for the repair. We are now waiting for the glue to set up so we can see if we were successful or not! The valves and plastic pipe are so cheap if we did not get the leak fixed we will bring in some fittings from the states. The first valve we bought took all Steve’s strength to get it to open. There was no way we could have used that one!
Before we went to bed last night we finished auditing the books for the Child Center. Now all that is left is to go through the bank statements and add the receipts for the special help we gave to the disabled, babies and children. Another few hours and they should be ready to take to the auditor.
Something is wrong with the emergency brake on the van. It tried to roll away from us when Steve got out to go in the hardware store.
Red stopped by for a few minutes this afternoon to pick up some obsolete computer key boards and dial up telephones. We found them when we were moving stuff around. Red has an uncle that works on computers and things so maybe he can scrap them for parts.
Take care and keep the work in your prayers.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
