We were slow getting out of bed this morning. Our California queen waterbed is quite comfortable and all the travel has slowed us down. The weather is very mild compared to what we are used to and there is more cloud cover which keeps the temperature cooler.
I tried to start the green pickup but the battery just wasn’t strong enough to get the engine to start so we drove the van to Nakpaache. Timothy was running a little slow as well. As we passed through Yendi we stopped and got Timothy some breakfast. It is hard to teach or preach without something in the stomach; at least that is my way of thinking. We got to the church building around 9:40. Timothy was asked to teach the bible class. He taught about dreams and how the dreams of the bible are not happening now. I taught a lesson about the Rich man and Lazarus. My main purpose was to emphasize the need for Christians not to leave the safety of the Church because hell is forever. I also emphasized the necessity to love the Lord more than our own families and that is a difficult pill to swallow here because family is everything.
After we finished the questions and answers we drove over to the chief’s house. Super, one of the church leaders, informed us the chief’s daughter had died and they had just finished the funeral event in the village so when we presented the kola money, we also gave some sympathy money. The chief was pleased we had given the gift. Funerals are very costly around here. Before leaving the village, we gave two people who had attended the funeral a ride back to Yendi. After dropping them off I was lucky enough to find a lady selling nice crisp apples for us. Skeeter, the monkey, liked them as well!
Tonight, at Kulkpeni I was asked to teach the class so I expounded upon the subject of dreams after listening to Timothy’s class. This is a timely subject for the people we work with. I gave them some Old and New Testament verses about dreaming and how the dreams and visions from God ceased with the deaths of the apostles. Many of the so called “prophets” and faith healers along with the fetish use dreams as a way to control and make money off of those who believe them. I was asked by the class tonight to come next Sunday and teach the Sunday morning class what I taught tonight since most of members were not present.
Our daughter-in-law, Melissa, has set us up so we can start emailing each days Notes as we did several years ago before we had a server problem. Some of our email addresses were lost. If you know of someone that wants to receive the daily Notes, please email the address and name to us at taylorsinghana at gmail com so they can be added to the list.
That wraps up our first full day back in Yendi. I know we have lots of work to get started on this time so you will be hearing about it. Thanks for your support. May God bless!
