Usually by this time of the month the rains have almost stopped.  Last night Kandie said we had a heavy rain and it continued to rain/drizzle till 9 am this morning.  We had been invited to visit the Church at Borido which isn’t far from Yendi. The rain slows everything down.  By the time we arrived at Borido I was surprised the church building was full and they were singing.

Borido isn’t a large congregation but they had the benches full.  I took the collapsed wooden bench that we brought to them and set it on the floor for the little kids to sit on.  Sometimes I take the church a bench that has not been put together; I nail it together for them before we leave so they do not have to hire someone to put it together.

Today with Timothy’s assistance I taught a lesson on fornication.   I used the account of Shechem  and Dinah the daughter of Jacob found in Genesis 34.  As I have said in the past this is a very big problem especially with the younger people because some of the local customs allow relations before marriage.  I used the example of a nice unwrinkled sheet of notebook paper and other piece of notebook paper that was waded up and made to flatten out again. Then I posed the question as to which piece of paper would they rather have?  Of course everyone chose the unwrinkled paper.

The question and answer period after services consisted mostly of questions about dating and marriage.  We try to answer the question from the scriptures; always seasoned with love, not hot pepper!

During services I notice a young man that had sores on his legs similar to those of Osteomyelitis.  As we were walking to the chief’s house I questioned the man about the sores.  I gave him transport money so he can come to Yendi and allow the disease control officer to have a look at the sores.  Foster, one of the leaders said he would accompany him to Yendi.  I will be interested to know what the treatment is.

After we greeted the chief Foster asked me to talk to 3 young men and encourage them to come  back to the services; they are wayward members.  I kindly implored the men to come to services and they said they would come.

This afternoon about the time class was to begin at Kulkpeni a dark rain cloud came up that discouraged most from attending.   We decided to paint the three chalk boards inside the building.  We used black emulsion paint and it looks like it is going to work.  We will check it out Wednesday when we go to Bible class.

Sure hope you had a great Lord’s Day. May God bless!

In His service,

Stephen & Kandie Taylori
